Muses for the Holiday Season - 2021

On America…

We must never remain silent in the face of bigotry. We must condemn those who seek to divide us. In all quarters and at all times, we must teach tolerance and denounce racism, anti-Semitism and all ethnic or religious bigotry wherever they exist as unacceptable evils. We have no place for haters in America -- none, whatsoever. -  Ronald Reagan

On Making a Difference…

We each have a role to play in making a difference.  We must take responsibility for our own lives and show love and respect for people and living things around us.

On Influencing the Children…

We have a huge influence on the children in our lives. Reassure them, build them up, make them feel loved and respect their feelings. Under no circumstance dismiss their feelings. Find the opportunity to speak up for the children, because so often their voices are not heard.

On Taking Responsibility…

We must take responsibility for the consequences of our actions.  For every action there is a reaction, good or bad.  If you initiate an action you are quite simply responsible for the consequence. Your inaction also has consequences for which you are fully responsible. You control your own life.  You are the captain of your ship.

On Differences

We may have differences, but that’s alright.  We should learn to agree to disagree.  This has become a lost art in our culture.

On Making Excuses and Shirking Blame…

Don’t make excuses.  Do you lie about, hide or ignore your reality? Then you have only yourself to blame.

On Success…

Think big, heartily pursue academics/knowledge, be honest, show integrity, create opportunities for yourself and just be nice.

On the New Year…

Choose your own path and push yourself because no one else is going to do it for you.  Life is not about expecting others to do for you, it is about doing, being and becoming. Seize the New Year and live it well showing grace and mercy all along the way.

Wishing you God’s blessings, good health and peace in the New Year! NLR
